Wild turkey is considered invasive in some landscapes… time for an invasivore Thanksgiving?

Ingredients (prepares rub for a 20lb Turkey)

  • 3/4 cups butter, softened
  • 6 tbsp minced garlic
  • 4 tbsp rosemary (fresh or dried)
  • 2 tbsp basil (fresh or dried)
  • 2 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 tsp black pepper
  • Pinch of salt


1.  In medium bowl, thoroughly mix all ingredients

2.  Gently loosen turkey skin

3.  Rub butter/spice mixture over and under turkey skin

4.  Use several toothpicks to seal skin over breast meat

5.  Bake in turkey bag at 325 F for 5-6 hours or until meat thermometer indicates an internal temperature of 180 F
